Dr. Bashar Hanna has spent nearly four years as the president and chief executive officer of Pennsylvania’s Bloomsburg University. In this position, he draws on experience gained in previous roles, such as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Delaware Valley University and dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Kutztown University, also in Pennsylvania. Most recently, Dr. Bashar Hanna expanded his professional activities by joining Lock Haven University in the role of interim president. He has also spent considerable time as an educator, including six years as a professor of biology at Delaware Valley University and six years as an instructor in the department of mathematics at his alma mater, Temple University.

Dr. Hanna holds several degrees from Temple, including a PhD in developmental neurobiology. In addition to his leadership responsibilities at Bloomsburg and Lock Haven, he serves on several boards, including the Montour County United Way board of directors. Dr. Hanna has also co-authored and edited several books and journal articles, and he has delivered presentations at conferences for groups such as the American Association of University Administrators.
